Because Erika told me to...

That's right, Erika does apparently have that kind of power.  In the midst of buying a house, spending endless hours (and dollars) at Target, getting a job, and trying to salvage some time with my beloved husband, blogging hasn't really been at the forefront of my mind.  But Erika said I should blog, so here I am.
So we bought a house.  A super cute house at that with loads of 60s character and original hardwood flooring.  From my current vantage point on the interim sofa, I look out the sliding doors into the backyard.  This is where I've spent most of my time since moving in.  In the morning I get mesmerized by the many hummingbirds, squirrels racing along the fence line or eating our almonds, or jays darting over the grass eating bugs.  It's kind of a little paradise for birds and squirrels and I just love it.
I keep the door open so Jake can walk in and out whenever he pleases.  And please him it does.  He sits out there for hours in the grass.  Every hour or so he'll come to the door to make sure I'm still here, and then wander back out to find another place in the sun.  It makes me so happy to see him so happy.
The perfectionist in me has been reluctant to post pictures of the house until it's totally "done."  But I'm realizing that's never going to happen.  I'm still pulling clothes out of suitcases, our office is all boxes still, and my many DIY projects are piling up.  But lots of things are getting close.  So I'm posting some pics of the empty house when I got the keys.  We'll start there.

Hello cutie!

First furniture redo for the house - this mid century beauty was spray painted black (why?) but got a lovely midnight blue redo from me.  Randy picked the color - it's perfect in the dining room!  Note the fresh lemons on top from our lemon tree!

So there is your tour.  The kitchen is mostly done, and the living room is really coming along.  We bought a tv to mount on the wall, which will free up some space.  We're waiting for our sofas to be delivered from Macy's on the 19th.  I finally arranged and hung pictures on the walls.  Does anyone else spend hours staring at a wall, trying to figure out how to arrange pictures?
Tell me what you think!
